Meet Our 2023 Panelists
HEMAPRIYA CHELLAPPANHemapriya Chellappan (she/her) is a freelance illustrator residing in Pune, India. She took to Japanese short-forms in the summer of 2019. Her work has previously appeared in The Heron’s Nest, whiptail, Modern Haiku, Akitsu Quarterly, among others. She currently serves as a co-editor for Failed Haiku.

KAT LEHMANNMix haiku and science. Add trees and rivers. Transform in the fire of parenthood. Result: tough outside, squishy inside, crunchy. Kat Lehmann (she/her) is the author of three poetry books, a co-founding co-editor of whiptail: journal of the single-line poem, and an associate editor at Sonic Boom. Kat has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net, and she won The Haiku Foundation Touchstone Award for Individual Poem.

SHLOKA SHANKARShloka Shankar (she/her) is a poet, editor, publisher, and self-taught visual artist from Bangalore, India. She enjoys experimenting with Japanese short-forms and myriad found poetry techniques alike. A Best of the Net nominee and award-winning haiku poet, her poems and artwork have appeared in over 200 online and print venues of repute. In addition, she has edited and co-edited six international poetry anthologies since 2016. Shloka is the Founding Editor of the literary & arts journal Sonic Boom and its imprint Yavanika Press. When she isn't poring over manuscripts, you can find her making abstract art, digital collages, or conducting poetry workshops. Shloka is the author of the microchap Points of Arrival (Origami Poems Project, 2021) and her debut full-length haiku collection, The Field of Why (Yavanika Press, 2022).
